A faster way of switching to another figure is to hold Alt down and click with left mouse button. This can be done with all tools.
If you got three buttons on your mouse you can select the figure by pressing middle mouse button.
To the right of the blue arrow icon you can select the figure from a drop down menu.
You can also select the category "Figures" and select the figure in the list.
